CEO Report

CEO REPORT – OCTOBER 2015

It has been a very busy time with some exciting changes for all of us at the Club since our last Airchat
almost six months ago. Early on in this period we have welcomed a new administration staff member
in Mary Treglown. Coming from outside of the aviation industry, Mary has had a very steep learning
curve but has now settled in well. Please say hello to Mary next time you’re at the Club.

Also during this period, bookings and an expansion in charter requirements have necessitated that we
move three instructors from casual to full time. Mal McAdam, Tom Hayter and Joe Jenner are now all
full time staff members at the Club. The charter requirements have also necessitated the purchase of a
second C310R, VH-ULF. The second 310 will also mean that we will have a 310 available for training,
something that has been lacking in the last six months since VH-JTV has been too busy with charter,
and a 310 available for private hire which hasn’t been on offer previously. The intention is to upgrade
ULF’s avionics in time to match those of JTV so that students and members will have access to
identical C310Rs.

From an administration point of view other matters that have been attended to are the search for and
recommendation to CASA of two new Chief Pilots and Heads of Operation. This is the first time in the
Club’s history that we will have the ability to keep operating without interruption if we should lose a
Chief Pilot/Head of Operations for whatever reason. Other administrative issues dealt with have been
preparation for and the holding of the Special General Meeting (reported on by the President),
preparation for the annual audit by Jason O’Connor and further information submitted to the
Department of Education in support of our VET Fee Help application.

Other projects currently underway are the preparation of a suite of Human Resources documents
including policies, position descriptions and staff and Board performance reviews and a review of the
Business Management Operations Manual which will guide the administration, performance and growth
of the Club into the future.

From a social perspective, the biggest occasion for the Club is our Wings Dinner at 6pm for 6:30pm
14th November at “Pilpel by the Sea.” We changed the venue this year in order to encourage more
members to attend. This venue has terrific views of Moreton Bay, elevated inside and outdoor spaces
right on the Redcliffe waterfront. This is a stunning location befitting the celebration of the
achievements of our students and members throughout the year. It promises to be a wonderful night
and your Board and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Best regards,

Stephen
