Operational Notice

The Moreton Bay Regional Council (owners of Redcliffe Airport), have written to tell us that they
prohibit engine run-ups in the area adjacent to the fuel station. They have made this restriction clear,
with signage.

There is good reason for this policy from regulatory, safety and noise reduction viewpoints.
The best solution is to leave your high RPM engine runs until parked at the runway holding point
(for the appropriate departure runway). If you are “waiting your turn” behind other aircraft and are
safely parked, there is a good opportunity to complete other items on the checklist, leaving the
engine run-ups until you are actually at the runway holding point. I know that if we adhere to this
procedure, it will help us to be seen by all as safe, professional and considerate pilots.

Brendan Power
